Ice Plant

  • Ice plant has a unique texture, characterized by its succulent, fleshy leaves and stems covered in glistening, tiny, bladder-like cells that look like ice crystals. The leaves are crisp and juicy with a slightly salty and tangy flavor.

  • Ice plant is:

    • a good source of vitamins A, C, and B-complex vitamins.

    • an excellent source of minerals such as potassium, calcium, magnesium, and iron.

    • a good source of antioxidants like beta-carotene and flavonoids that help protect against oxidative stress.

  • Lettuce has a high water content and very low calories (15kcal in 100g).

  • Ice plant can be prepared raw (enjoyed in salads for its crisp texture and refreshing taste), stir-fried (with a little oil, garlic, and other seasonings to retain its crispness), steamed (until tender, often served with a light sauce or dressing), and as a garnish (a decorative and flavorful addition to various dishes)
